No your eyes are not deceiving you. This lake that looks like a giant strawberry milkshake actually exists! Lake Retba, in Senegal, Africa contains 40% salt which attracts the salt-loving organism Dunaliella salina that produces a red pigment that absorbs and uses the energy of sunlight to create more energy. In the process, the lake water is turned this beautiful shade of pink! Salt collectors can often be seen scouring the lake to remove the mineral from this 3 meter deep lake.
